The chill table is a brilliantly simple invention: A molded plastic table designed to hold a bed of ice on which perishables can be displayed in a buffet. When the ice melts, you simply unscrew a drain plug and collect the water in a jug underneath the table.
These chill tables are great for salad bars and desserts as well as more exotic faire like raw oysters and sushi. Admittedly, it looks a bit industrial in this photo, but dressed up with table skirting and filled with glittering ice cubes it actually looks quite nice.
